5.0.5 upgrade but can not change database password

Hello, i upgraded to version 5.0.5 correctly. The thing that i can't do is to change the database password.

When i change the password (both on database and on .conf.php file) i get a blank page (from the dashboard) and the ads are empty even if i clean the cache. If i reverse back the old password, it returns working. I need to secure the site, please could you help me to understand what's wrong?

Blank pages in the web browser are generally due to an internal server error, where the server is not able to return any HTML content to the browser:

The first step here would be to check your web server logs to try and find out why that is happening.
