I am trying to install Revive-Adserver but it is failing on connection to the cloud database  (the database is NOT localhost).

I wonder if connections to off-site databases works and how this can be configured,

Thanks

At the installation process, the software will ask for the database host, there you just fill in the ip or hostname of the database server.

yes.  It have done that. Just wanted to ensure this is a possibility. I have installed a server under localhost but not using a remote database.

Currently getting 'cannot connect to database'

looks a bit like:

[database]
type=mysql
host=theremotehos.clouddb.com
socket="/Applications/MAMP/tmp/mysql/mysql.sock"
port=3306
username=databaseuser
password=securepassword
name=databasename
persistent=
mysql4_compatibility=1
protocol=tcp
compress=
ssl=
capath=
ca=

But it's not connecting... don't know why
