prophoto Posted April 17, 2017 Author Report Posted April 17, 2017 It seems the 'import code' button does work except for openX3rdPartyServers. Did I read somewhere that this plugin is defunct? How do I completely remove it if so? You need to update your tutorials and include how/when to use the Import button instead of the install button! Spent WAAAYYY too long on this... Quote
andrewatfornax Posted April 18, 2017 Report Posted April 18, 2017 Hi @prophoto, Thanks for the feedback. The hard part is that it's rare that anyone who hits this problem can actually provide reliable steps to reproduce the issue, so it's hard for us to reproduce it, and therefore develop absolutely perfect documentation on how to fix the issue! Certainly, I have upgraded Revive Adserver several thousand times (literally), and if I follow the steps, I have never run into the issue of having problems with the plugins. On the page at https://documentation.revive-adserver.com/display/DOCS/Plugins+Incorrectly+Upgraded (which seems to be the most likely one for you, given that you had problems with the plugins after upgrading), it does say to use the Import button, not the install button - and you have advised above that the Import button was the one that worked for you (with the exception of one plugin), so, I'm not sure how we could update the documentation! What was it on that page that you found confusing, and what led you to think that the Install button should be used? The openX3rdPartyServers plugin is still part of the standard installation: https://documentation.revive-adserver.com/display/DOCS/Standard+Plugins Can you please provide more information about what state this one plugin is in? stdout Posted May 8, 2017 Report Posted May 8, 2017 This exact thing is happening to me, as well, except I am running with a fresh install of 4.0.1. Under Configuration/Maintenance/Plugins I see in a red box: Client: is configured as installed but not found to exist Geo: is configured as installed but not found to exist Site: is configured as installed but not found to exist Time: is configured as installed but not found to exist oxCacheFile: is configured as installed but not found to exist oxMemcached: is configured as installed but not found to exist The issue is that much functionality is missing, and the plugins came in disabled by default. I was able to enable the six main plugins but the "Groups" plugins have several that are disabled and I cannot find a way to enable them. Clearly something is broken with this fresh install and I'm working to uncover where the problem is. If it means anything, I am using Centos 7 which has an old version of php (5.3.3). Quote
andrewatfornax Posted May 8, 2017 Report Posted May 8, 2017 Hi @stdout, Yes, that version of PHP definitely means something - it's not supported by 4.0.1: https://www.revive-adserver.com/support/requirements/ Quote
prophoto Posted May 9, 2017 Author Report Posted May 9, 2017 I'm running php 5.6 and apache 2.4 on Centos 7 if it matters... Quote
andrewatfornax Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Hi @prophoto, Okay! In which case, I think the last time we were talking about this above, I was asking for more details, both about what in the documentation was confusing (given that the documentation says to do the thing that you found that worked, for the most part), and about the state of the one plugin that the instructions didn't work for. Thanks. Quote
prophoto Posted May 9, 2017 Author Report Posted May 9, 2017 IMO the docs need much more detail on when to use one button or the other. It may be clear to you but not to a first time user or someone that doesn't know the difference. openX3rdPartyServers is in a disabled state and I have this error. Failed to find package definition file /plugins/etc/openX3rdPartyServers.xml Quote
andrewatfornax Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 Hi @prophoto, Thanks for the feedback, but again, I'm not sure where more information could be added. I appreciate it's not easy, but I still think that if the docs are ready fully and carefully, then they do explain which option to work. It sounds to me like the plugin isn't missing or disabled - it's there and enabled? If that's the case, then https://documentation.revive-adserver.com/display/DOCS/Plugins+Incorrectly+Upgraded is the guide that you want, in which case, the option to use is the Import (code only) button.
