Upgrade To 3.2.1 - No Previous Version Of Revive Adserver Detected

Recommended Posts

I am trying to upgrade from Revive 3.2.0 to 3.2.1 by following this guide:

http://www.revive-adserver.com/support/upgrading/

When I get to the "Run the upgrade wizard" step, it is not finding my existing installation and it is asking for database details as if it was going to install a fresh instance for the application.

Anyone else is having this problem? Any ideas what could be wrong? I checked the file permissions, database credentials...

The install.log shows this:

=========================================================================

Attempting to detect an existing Openads (aka. phpAdsNew) installation...

PAN not detected

Attempting to detect an existing Openads (aka. Max Media Manager 0.1) installation...

MMM v0.1 not detected

Attempting to detect an existing Openads (aka. Max Media Manager 0.3) installation...

MMM v0.3 not detected

Attempting to detect an existing Revive Adserver installation...

No previous version of Revive Adserver detected

I looked at the code in lib/OA/Upgrade/Upgrade.php, function detectOpenads. After some debugging I found out it is never getting past the first if statement. Is it supposed to? I can't see where else would it set the existing_installation_status to OA_STATUS_CAN_UPGRADE.

Hello Martin, were you able to upgrade?

I am having the exact same issue. I DID place the configuration file on the new adserver directory, pointing to the new database as instructed. I tried 5 times with the same results, I had to remove the whole VARS directory and reupload it again for each try. Then I tried removing and reuploading everything with the same results: I only get the install page instead of the Upgrade page.

I am trying to upgrade from Openx 2.8.7 to 3.2.1

Hi @svsanchez,

As noted by @Dave Brain above, if you are expecting to perform an upgrade, but you're seeing the install screen, then the Revive Adserver install/upgrade wizard is not finding your previous installation's configuration files, either because:

  1. You have not copied the configuration files across from your old installation directory; or
  2. You are accessing the Revive Adserver install/upgrade wizard using a different top level domain from the existing installation that you are attempting to upgrade.
