Invocation Code Confusion

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

We're trying to configure a test banner on a website, but not only can we not get the banner to show, but the way the Invocation Code options are presented in the system is confusing, so I'd appreciate some guidance/pointers.

This is what I've done.

1. The Advertiser is configured.

2. A Campaign for the advertiser is configured.

     Campaign type: Remnant

     CPM, Impressions 10,000, Rate/price .5

Linked Zones: testsite.com (shows under Linked Zones).

3. Banners is configured with a single banner.

Linked Zones tab: nothing is displayed, so nothing to select/change.

Rest is left as default, the banner displays ok in all the tabs.

4. Websites configured with testsite.com.

     Invocation Code* (see question below)

5. Zones is configured with testsite.com.

Zone type: Banner, Button or Rectangle

Linked banners: nothing is displayed, so nothing to select/change.

     Invocation code** (see question below)

So, as mentioned, no banners are displayed, either because I'm not understanding the distinction between the Invocation Code* in #4 above and the Invocation Code** in #5 above.

Which Invocation Code is supposed to be used to get the banner to display?

I've tried both without success. The Invocation Code* for #4 is something like this:

...

The Invocation Code** for #5 is something like this:

<ins data-revive-zoneid="3" data-revive-id="427ee60dbecdf81e8f5fa510e4e8a5d7"></ins>

Neither work.

I also have the following crontab:

1 * * * * /bin/php /www/sites/adserver/adserver.testsite.com/scripts/maintenance/maintenance.php adserver.testsite.com

What I did see mentioned in the docs is that the zone must be linked to the banner, else the banner won't be displayed, but I'm unable to link the two. Is this perhaps the reason? Even though I've been able to link the zone to the campaign as mentioned in #2 above?

What am I missing/doing incorrectly? I'd appreciate any pointers. Let me know if any further detail is required.

Thanks

What does the zone probability screen tell you?

There are no active banners linked to this zone.

And if I click on the Linked Banners tab, and click on "Select the campaign you would like to link to this zone", there are no Advertisers selectable (despite an advertiser being present, which has an active banner).

UPDATE:

OK, thanks to a private message from another user, the banner will only show up in the Linked Banners tab if the banner/zone are of the same size. That takes care of that issue.

So it leads me back to the related question in my original post: what's the difference between the two Invocation Codes?
