  1. Could someone please explain to me how banner weights & probability work? I created a zone with 4 banners. By default each banner had probability 25% & weight 1 I then changed one of the banners weights to 2, thinking this would increase its probability - but it didn't! Am I doing something wrong?
  2. Hi there, I'm somewhat new to Revive, so please bear with me. My question is: how can I manually override the calculated probability % for an ad, to force it to display based on a manual probability % I provide? A little background: I'm working with a site that has a handful of campaigns and banners, and 5 zones where they get displayed. The site gets around 40k hits/month. The problem is our contract campaigns are constantly under-delivering the booked impressions, even though there is plenty of traffic to meet the # of impressions. For example, in one zone I have 1 contract campaign and 1 remnant campaign running. The contract campaign expires today and still needs to do about 400 impressions. Yet the probability for that ad is continually too low -- it wanders around but typically only 5-10%. At that rate vis-a-vis the traffic we're getting, it's just not going to meet the impressions we need. Meanwhile, the remnant campaign gets the rest, so that ad displays a lot. Judging from reading this forum, this seems to be a common problem. For example: etc. I've tried everything I can think of, based on other forum posts and users suggestions. In Global Settings -> Maintenance Settings -> Priority Settings, I've set "Intentionally over-deliver Contract Campaigns" to 10%. That seemed to help slightly, but I still don't feel confident it's enough to solve the problem. And yes, I've made sure Maintenance is running. What I've tried so far: Being a naive developer, I figured I could just add a "manual override" box next to the probabilty % in www/admin/zone-probability.php, store the value somewhere, then force it into whatever function calculates the probability percentages. But then I started going through all the methods that relate to calculating priority, compensating priority, etc, and it gets very complex very quickly. I found that I could force in a "priority_factor" adjustment via _getPriorityAdjustment() in lib/OA/Maintenance/Priority/AdServer/Task/PriorityCompensation.php, which did indeed alter the priority % by the priority_factor supplied, but only temporarily. It seems to get adjusted out the next time Maintenance runs. Plus this just seems very hacky and totally not the "right" way to do it, I'm sure. What I want: I want to be able to bypass all the complex calculations that Revive does to calculate probability percentages. Instead, I want a box where I can type in a number like 50% and Revive will display that ad 50% of the time no-matter-what until it meets the required impressions, and then stops. It's far less important to me that the ad impressions are evenly-spaced throughout the duration of the campaign. All I care is that it meets 100% of the required impressions without fail, even if it does so a day or two (or more) before the campaign is set to expire. I think If I had some way of manually controlling the display probabilities, this would be much easier to make happen. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!
  3. I have a listing of ads that are displayed in a column of 5 zones. I am assuming that the zone in the top position is more likely to get clicked, so I want ads from campaigns with higher weights to be more likely to be displayed at the top of the column. For the sake of discussion, I'll call the top zone, Zone 1, and the bottom zone, Zone 5. I use zone chaining and link all campaigns to the top zone so that any banners not shown in the top zone are shown in a zone below it, and so on, and so forth. Zone 2 is chained to Zone 1, Zone 3 is chained to Zone 2, Zone 4 is chained to Zone 3, etc. The invocation code has the "Don't show the banner again on the same page" and "Don't show a banner from the same campaign again on the same page" parameters set to yes. I've tried adjusting the weights of the campaigns, but can't seem to affect the order of the banners that are shown. For example, I can set all campaigns to weight 1, except for one that is set to 100. When I look at Zone 1's probabilities, I can see that the banner from the campaign with weight 100 has a higher probability than the others. However, the campaign with higher weight seems to show up randomly in the zone list. Certainly not consistently near the top. Does anyone have any advice on how to influence the order in which the campaign's banners are shown? It should also be said, that all campaigns being used are remnant campaigns.
  4. I recently installed revive ad server and I'm having a problem. I've created a remnant campaign with weight 1 with no limitations. Then I've created 2 contract campaigns. I've tried different options for them. First with total campaign limit, then with daily limit, but the probability for the linked zones for the contract campaigns stays 0%, and for the remnant campaign is 100%. As a result the contract campaigns are not served. Even if I stop the remnant campaign, the contract ones still get 0% probability and are not served... I've tried to search in the forum for similar problem, but with no luck...
  5. We previously ran only 'unlimited' ads, but are transitioning to using capped ads to deliver correctly. currently, some ads are unlimited and some are capped. the unlimited ads deliver, but the capped ads do not. If we change a capped ad to 'unlimited,' it begins delivering. Help? What is cause and how to correct it? Thanks
  6. Hi everybody! I'm new on Revise Adsever, but I like it very much. I installed the server and I'm trying to test a simple case: one campaign with one website, with 3 zones. Just I configure the zones their probabilities are on 5% and there are an issue, because the banners rarely display. But some time later the probability is bigger and the banners appear most times (but not everytime). And sometimes the the probability is on 100% and the banners appear everytime (as I like). Here you can se a simple HTML page that I use to test: http://revivetest.hol.es/customer/customer.htm How can I manage that probability of the zone in order to reach that the banners appear everytime? Wht the probability change? It's fine that behavior? Thanks in advance. Andresgom
