andrewatfornax reacted to kabkab in How to do with HTML5 banners?
    Hi,
Finaly, I found how to do.
In the the box Create an HTML banner - banner code I wrote the whole code of the html file created by adobe edge animate.
I corrected in the js files the folders links of the other js files and the images.
That's all. I will investigate more, I'm a newbie in creating html5 banners, there's may be a way to correct these links inside edge animate.
    Hope will help. Thanks.

andrewatfornax got a reaction from Richard Foley in Performance issues and VPS going down twice a day
    Hi @Meo,
Well, PHP actually starts up and shuts down completely on each page load - so, it's not like a continuously running Java or C application or something where memory leaks are an issue. However, your web server may not start up and shut down a processing thread for every page load, for efficiency reasons, and so PHP memory management issues may build up as a result.
You could look at the settings for your web server's thread management, as you can often configure things like how many web requests each web server thread should handle before it is shut down and a new one started up - this may help, if the issue is a slow growth of total memory being used.
The other thing, however, may just be that your web server is configured to allow more threads to be started up (when needed) than the server can cope with, and so this issue is happening due to a periodic increase in traffic to the server?

The forum software has been upgraded. There's still some work to do on the graphics side, but I would expect that everything else is in working condition...

That looks ok now, Matteo, thanks for the feedback. Maybe it was a temporary glitch, these things happen. I know

andrewatfornax reacted to Dave Brain in How to rotate different size ads in the same ad zone?
    Hi,
Yes, you can. Simply specify width and height value as '*' in zone creation/edit page. From this, you can link multiple various dimension ads together.

See the replies here. Most likely it's mod_security getting in the way.

Revive Adserver have an option to create third party ad tag code to deliver their ads through “Generic HTML Banner”. Once you create a banner through “Generic HTML Banner”, we can deliver the third party ad tag code and statistics are tracked.

Your check says "PHP Version 5.2.17". At least 5.3.0 is needed, that's it!

Hmmm, this is a third, but more complex need that I wasn't originally thinking of!
The issue here is that Revive Adserver only has the concept of one set of URLs to use, so, to make something like this work, you'd have to have one install set up, with two completely different sets of URLs for the UI and delivery, and then make sure that you log into the correct UI to generate invocation tags.
But, in theory, I think this would work:

Please let me know if not, I may have mis-remembered the ordering of the config file entries...

There are a lot of "permission denied" errors to be seen, relating to creating/writing to the sessions file. I'd start with that...

andrewatfornax got a reaction from Andrew S in Impressions Logged, But 33% Delivery
    Hi Andrew,
I know you say that Revive Adserver is installed on a clean, fast VPS, but please don't underestimate how much power you really do need to do fast banner delivery. When I see you say that you've tried a remnant campaign (presumably with no limitations on delivery at all), then if you're still seeing (far) fewer banner impressions than page impressions, then really, the most likely reasons are the performance of the Revive Adserver being low, and users not waiting for the banner to load before they navigate away.
I know this is not exactly the issue you are talking about (I do plan to write a troubleshooting guide about what you're talking about at some stage), but have you see in the documentation, which is similar?

Got it. I need to enable PHP execution within ads to enable magic macros. I believe I've seen this described is a security risk somewhere, so am not so happy about doing this on the live server without more research. Nevertheless, thanks, Ian for your assist with the clickurl parameter! :)

Sure, Revive has a clickurl Macro, which you should just put in front of the URL, If I recall correctly I think it should be like :
    <a href="{clickurl}//www.booking.com?aid=425828">Booking.com</a>

andrewatfornax reacted to pcmediahost in Advertiser Self Management Of Banners.
I really think Revive should make a standard login dashboard for both publisher and advertiser. One, that is; flexible, upgradeable, light, easy to use, and easy to look at. If that was created, in a fairly short span of time, I believe Revive would quickly accelerate getting inundated with people and developers wanting to check it out and possibly chip in. I would think that just out of the box functionality alone would be beneficial for developers wanting a dashboard as the foundation to CMS platform extensions and plug-ins,

In fact, I am concerned that without it many developers may not be so willing to spend the money or time in development to obtain any basic needs they may require, that are not available now. .Especially if the development relies on a dashboard created by a unknown 3rd party. and If other people also make dashboards, it could hurt  the developer’s incentive and ability to go through one party for complete functionality and/or support. .

.I don't know about ya'll, but I 'm really hoping a Jomsocial or Wordpress developer comes walking into the forum with the intent to make Revive an extension for Joomla or Wordpress. There is potential for the extension to take over all advertising needs of a site, and provide banner exchanges.used for site announcements and more. It can also be implemented into other popular software as plugins making Revive the defualt advertiser plugin for that software. Not to mention the typical basic functionality it would have been built for, which is he auto installation into a live CMS platform used by 10's of millions of people.

Besides much faster growth, I would think this dashboard would be like a foot in the door for Revive too, at anytime Revive could implement something, For instance: maybe a central advertising hub people could bid on for ads (remember that), monitoring ability to data on how the product is used, data error logging, software udpate ability or who knows what could come up... but  regardles Revive would be there with a dashboard, one that can be updated at any time and even earning free advertising credits with that nifty little banner exchange plug-in they added, that grabs potential users and developers, like a lighthouse sitting upon the shoreline of a dim moonlit night, giving relief and direction to the sailors as they navigate the thunderous sounds of crashing.waves, with it's flashing beacon of warm light.
    .

Anyways, I get carried sometimes, but to finish up... I think you guys have a great thing here and know that you guys know than I do. Sometimes a fresh look can see things differently. I sure hope the importance of the payment dashboard is reconsidered.

    Thanks for your time,
    Jeff

Here's a new plugin which lets advertisers self-service upload their own banners, just released. More info here: http://plugins.rfi.net/downloads/rfi-adserver-uploads-plugin/ Admin/managers have an interface to approve the banners uploaded.

Yes! Revive Adserver can do a number of things with multiple domains:

    1. You can have multiple, but completely independent installations running out of one code base (but with different databases); or more commonly (and usefully)
    2. You can have one installation running, but deliver the UI and/or banners on different domains.
