I had the same problem. I had to update revive to the latest version. It also depends on where you're storing your banners. Make sure that you input the full path of the storage folder.

Wondering if you did find a solution to this var/cache/README.txt issue

After more than a year I'm wondering if anyone found a solution to the var/cache/README.txt security error. I saw other posts in here asking the same question but no solutions. Ever removing the file is not solving the issue. I just upgrade version 5.3 to 5.4.1 but the results is the same. In the same server I'm running 5.0.5 on a different domain and there are no errors there, but in that case the security section was not included in the Revive server. Thanks A.

Do you have any cache plugin installed?

Replied to myself. Solved most of the issues by re-running the update and loading the new version as root and flushing all the caches. Still, the issue with the security is appearing.

Hello all, I just upgrade to version 5.3 from 5.05 and I keep getting a security flag. ---- Your browser was able to fetch some files that should not be accessible. For example: var/cache/README.txt ---- VAR is set on 777 as it was in the past. Any idea why? The files were uploaded via FTP as I did in the past, so the owner is the FTP user. Also for the first time I couldn't lock the settings file with 644 permissions, I had to set the file with 444 and when selecting the product updates button is putting the browser window in a loop, doesn't matter what kind of browser, even with cache cleared. Does anyone know if Revive ad server require a plug-in to supply ads with parallax scrolling? I did perform the 4.2 upgrade on 2 different sites, all went well but today I realized that the "Available Zones" and "Linked Zones" are not visible on Campaigns. I can still connect the campaign banners to the zones. Did you try to remove the folder with the new ad server and upload it again? sometimes things get corrupted. So, FTP, remove the New Revive Ad folder. Download a new file from Revive Website and then upload it again. I usually rename the folder without using dash or underscores, just one word. Also make sure you have the correct permissions set on the folders as x Revive upgrade instruction.

UHmm maybe I'm still missing files because the banners are loaded but they don't appear on the page. What I mean is that I can load the .zip package in the backend but there's no preview and when you refresh the page the loaded package disappear leaving the button saying "Choose File"

I think I solved in part the issue. I downloaded the HTML5 plugin files from the original source https://github.com/revive-adserver/revive-adserver/tree/master/plugins_repo/openXBannerTypes/plugins/bannerTypeHtml/oxHtml and installed them, changed permissions to 777 and now they are showing up. Wondering why they didn't get installed in the first place.

Hello there, i just moved from 4.01 to 4.14 and everything seems to be running smooth, however when I tried to create a banner and select HTML5 I can only see Generic, Inline ads and overlay video. The system is not giving me an option to create an HTML5 and upload a .zip Did I miss something during the setup? Or do I need to activate something extra? Thanks A.

Lately I've been noticing quite a bit of discrepancy between the impression recorded by the ad server compare to other tools. Had to start monitoring after some clients complained that the number of impressions reported were not even closed to the numbers they recorded. I'm monitoring the Google adsense impressions and compare them to the Revive ad server and in some days I can see a big gap. Like Google recording 8200 impression and Revive recording 13200 (number of clicks are the same) In the banner logging settings the configuration is set as: Log an impression every time a banner is viewed Should I use Log a request every time a banner is requested instead? And not to log stats form Googlebot-Image/1.0 Googlebot/2.1 AhrefsBot/3.1 bingbot/2.0 YandexBot/3.0 VoilaBot BETA 1.2 Anyone have an idea why the difference is so wide? Thanks

I have 2 installations of the Ad server. 2 different domain, 1 hosting, 2 ads server, so I'm guessing they use the same PHP memory limit and Mod Security disable One was an upgrade from OpenX and works like a charm. this one brand new installation is driving me banana. When the cron job for the maintenance run all the banners priorities are going back to 1% meanwhile remnant goes to over 90% and the banners stop to display on the pages .. only remnants and it takes forever to go back to normal probability %. Hello there I have similar problem, everything works fine until the maintenance stop working for some reason and all the banners gets a 0% probability of delivery while the remnant gets 100%. I checked the debug.log and the maintenance seems to work fine but at one point it during the task a message appear saying. Hello there, I did install the WP SuperCache plugin to speed up load on our blog and since then I had few problems with the ad served. Randomly the pages are not loaded properly caused of the ads been generated dynamically and the only way to go back to normal is to delete the cache on WP SuperCache. I was reading an article about you http://www.contentrobot.com/making-openx-and-wp-supercache-work-on-your-wordpress-blog But it's referring to OpenX 2.6 and i'm sure something is different with the new version of the server. How do you perform a single page call code from the settings and what else is need it? thank you. A.

yes, same root of the domain name I'm serving, and the conf is www.myserver.com.conf.php the server is sitting on httpdocs/adserver so the file is inside httpdocs/adserver/var

Yes, in the old implementation of OpenX the file was set as 644 but the backend was reporting the file as locked.

Hello there, I just moved from OpenX 2.8.10 to Revive 3.0.2 The process was smooth and all seems to work just fine except for locking down the conf.php file. With the FTP i changed /var/www.myserver.com.conf.php from 777 to 644 but when i log into the Revive back-end from the browser and i go into the admin area and modify the settings the system is reporting that the conf file is not locked and I should do so in order to secure it. I can modify each settings no problem. I modify the file permission several time just to see if it makes any difference but the system is still reporting the file as unlocked. Any suggestion? thanks A.
